Everything you need to know about the Alpaca

The alpaca wool is a soft, durable, luxurious and silky natural fiber, is a naturally hypo-allergenic, is lighter than sheep wool, warmer for the weight, is naturally water-repellent and difficult to ignite.

Alpaca fiber is stronger than sheep wool of the same micron, or thickness, making the medium grades excellent for outerwear that is as durable as it is beautiful.

There are 4 grades of alpaca wool:

  • Coarse Wool, used for upholstery and carpets.
  • Adult Alpaca, ideal for ponchos, jackets and coats.
  • Superfine Alpaca, ideal for lightweight garments like shawls and scarves.
  • Baby Alpaca, ideal for delicate garments like sweaters and cardigans.

The Baby Alpaca is the finest fiber and expensive than the other grades.
